Perfect replacement
I have a Gen1 G17 (1984). When doing a safety check; with finger pressure, I was able to push the striker past the factory safety plunger. When I compared the 1984 OEM plunger and spring to a current OEM plunger and spring, the spring was stronger and the body length was longer (not the overall length) than mine. My 1984 plunger had very small nicks on the 'corner' where the striker rests and I didn't think it was enough to cause this safety failure. (I don't shoot a lot, less than 1,000 rounds for a 41-year-old gun) It turns out that the combination of the slight wear of the plunger and the weaker OEM spring was enough to cause this safety issue. Replacing the original 1984 factory parts was enough to make the striker safety perfect again. And the overall finish was better than the 1984 factory parts.
